WA Government Launches Grant Program For Electric Car Chargers

24 February 2023

Round One of the Charge Up Workplace Grant is now open!

If you’re in WA, it’s now never been easier or indeed cheaper to install EV charging at your venue or workplace.

Until CoB 12th May the WA government will contribute 50% of the labour and materials to help you deploy publically accessible EV Chargers.

All up, $15 million in business grants are up for grabs in Western Australia to co-fund the cost of electric vehicle (EV) recharging infrastructure.

Charge Up Workplace grants have been designed by the WA government to make it more accessible and cost-effective for businesses to install EV charging equipment in the workplace.

Taking advantage of Western Australia's abundant solar energy, the grant aims to maximise EV daytime charging and to minimise extra electricity use in the busy evening peak.

To 'charge up at work' or 'charge up at play' that is the question...

Allow employees, fleet vehicles and visitors to charge up at work by installing an EV charger in the workplace car park or depot.

With the Charge Up Workplace Grant, eligible businesses, such as cafés or tourist destinations and wineries, can enable their customers to charge up at play.

 Super speedy round one breakdown:

Open from the 16th of February 2023 until COB 12 May 2023.

  • Allocation of $3.75 million per grant.
  • Applications are assessed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Charge Up Workplace EV Grants Criteria

 Applicants will be eligible if:

  • The EV charger is installed at a location in Western Australia.
